Arimidex oral tablets contain 1 mg of anastrozole (a nonsteroidal aromatase inhibitor). It is an anticancer medication used for the initial treatment of breast cancer in postmenopausal women. Most breast cancers depend on the hormone estrogen for their growth. After menopause, estrogen production in the ovaries stops, but it continues in the body’s fatty tissues. This generally occurs when the enzyme aromatase converts other hormones into estrogen. This type of breast cancer is often referred to as estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer.

Anastrozole is an aromatase inhibitor. It works by blocking an aromatase enzyme responsible for estrogen production in the body. Ultimately, this leads to a reduction in tumor size or a slowing of tumor growth in some women.

When is it used?

Arimidex Dosage

Arimidex is taken as one tablet once a day at the same time each day, either in the morning or in the evening. However, there are certain guidelines that must be followed during treatment:

• If you forget to take the tablet, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is time for your next dose. Remember that you should never take a double dose.

• Keep the tablets in a safe place, out of the reach of children.

• Store the tablets at room temperature, away from direct light and heat.
