HMG contains two main hormones that play an important role in fertility: follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone. Follicle-stimulating hormone is responsible for egg development in the ovaries. Luteinizing hormone is responsible for ovulation in women and testosterone production in Leydig cells in men. HMG binds to the LH/FSH/HCG receptor to exert its effects in women with low levels of FHS or LH.
