Bacteriostatic water for peptide and growth hormone injection. Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which is added as a bacteriostatic preservative. Unlike ordinary sterile water, bacteriostatic can keep the dissolved peptide stable over a long period.
The container can be reintroduced several times (usually via a sterile needle) and benzyl alcohol inhibits or stops the growth of most potentially contaminating bacteria.
